Its been eight months since I began a course entitled Novel First Draft at The Writer's Studio and I have surprised myself in that time. There's been plenty of instances in my life of me going off half-cocked, convinced I was on the right path only to blunder head-long into a brick wall.
Not this time. Writing has become a part of me, in a way no other calling has. I know, I find it hard to believe too, but like a hero in a fantasy tale, I feel gripped by a sense of purpose.
As of right now, I have 110,000 words in my first draft. And of course its raw material, but there's a lot of good raw material there. I'm feeling very optimistic about finishing and producing something worthwhile.
Then comes the question, what now? Well, dear reader, you'll have to wait and see.
